Masks required of all visitors to Legal Aid Ontario offices
Published: April 1, 2022
As of April 4, Legal Aid Ontario (LAO) will begin to transition back to in-person services. We are currently assessing the safest means of providing our services in our physical workspaces.
We request that anyone visiting a legal aid office wear a mask at all times until further notice, including those in courthouses across the province. This means your nose and mouth must be covered by a mask before entering a legal aid office. The requirement does not apply to individuals with a medical condition or disability that prevents them from wearing a mask.
If you do not have a mask to wear when visiting a legal aid office, a member of our staff will be happy to provide one for you.
If you cannot wear a mask, our staff may find an alternative method of safely providing you with our services, such as physical distancing and/or a plexiglass barrier, or they may arrange virtual services over the telephone instead. Other safety precautions will also be in place, such as hand sanitizer stations and physical distancing between employees.
While we understand the Ontario government has ended the requirement for masks in most indoor settings, LAO will continue to assess the safest and most effective means of providing our services and update our mask guidelines accordingly.
Thank you for your cooperation.
