Our goal is to make information regarding Legal Aid Ontario easy to find, use and understand. Listed below are plans, reports, and other documents prepared to give insight into our operations:
- Contracts between LAO, certain employees, vendors and organizations
- Legal Aid Services Act, the provincial law that governs LAO
- Memorandum of understanding between LAO and the Ministry of the Attorney General clarifying aspects of how LAO works
- Public consultation information summarizing public and stakeholder feedback
- Reports including:
- Annual reports on LAO services, leadership messages, board membership, performance indicators and financial statements and more. As a public agency, LAO is required by law to produce these. They are then reviewed by the Ontario Legislature.
- Business plans outlining LAO priorities for the current and coming years
- Expense reports of senior management, president and CEO and chair of the board
- Expert papers and studies exploring areas of law LAO works in, community legal needs and possible policy and service initiatives
- Financial statements and programs periodically audited by the Ontario Auditor General
- Ontario Ombudsman reports on provincial watchdog’s investigations of complaints about Ontario government ministries and agencies
- Quarterly reports on LAO finances, services, legal aid certificates, and lawyer payments
- Service agreements outlining contractual obligations between LAO and other organizations
- Strategic plans issued every five years guiding how we develop and deliver programs and services
- Survey results of lawyer satisfaction with LAO
