Bilingual legal assistant/receptionist

FULL TIME POSITION – SALARY RANGE: $46,000 to $52,000
We are a non-profit organization run by a local board of Directors funded by Legal Aid Ontario. We provide legal advice and representation for a variety of income-related and poverty law issues. Requirements
- Fluency in both official languages (oral and written) and proven ability to deal effectively with the public in both languages.
- Excellent and accurate keyboard skills of at least 50 words per minutes, in both official languages, with good knowledge of English and French grammar, punctuation, spelling vocabulary, and verb tenses.
- Above average computer skills including extensive knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and ability to learn a new client management software and tools.
- Strong administrative and organization skills and the ability to prioritize a variety of tasks.
- Ability to work independently, but also to work as a team and be able to support a diverse legal team.
Responsibilities
- Reception duties – making initial contact with clients, visitors, and community partners who contact the clinic in-person, by phone, or email.
- Provide basic information regarding clinic services.
- Provide appropriate referral information to various community resources.
- Provide general administrative support (including faxing, photocopying, filing, typing, email correspondence, etc.).
