Timmins-Temiskaming Community Legal Clinic
Permanent Full-Time Position
The Timmins-Temiskaming Community Legal Clinic (“TTCLC”) is currently seeking a full time permanent bilingual Staff Lawyer to join our team.
About TTCLC:
TTCLC is a community legal clinic funded by Legal Aid Ontario. Our head office is located in the City of Timmins. We provide legal services in clinic law matters to low-income residents of the Timmins and Temiskaming areas, primarily in housing and income maintenance.
We are looking for a lawyer with an interest in clinic law and social justice. The successful applicant will be practicing administrative law with an emphasis in Ontario Works, Ontario Disability Support Program, Landlord and Tenant, Employment Insurance and Canada Pension Plan. The position involves the provision of services throughout our catchment area from Timmins to Latchford, in both official languages. The Staff Lawyer is also expected to engage in public legal education, law reform and community development initiatives.
Qualifications include:
- Member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario;
- The ability to provide services and full representation in both French and English;
- Strong research skills as well as strong oral and written advocacy skills;
- Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work;
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team;
- Community Legal Clinic experience is an asset;
- A valid Ontario Driver’s License, ability and willingness to travel.
Salary range:
The candidate’s annual salary will be commensurate to experience and year of call, and will range from $77,000 to $96,000.
