Lawyer satisfaction survey results for 2015

Legal Aid Ontario (LAO)’s lawyer satisfaction survey for 2015 found that the percentage of lawyers who view LAO positively in all areas surveyed has increased, compared to 2014. For instance, 62.7 per cent of lawyers are happier with staff service, and 37.6 per cent are happier with billing, compared to 53.4 per cent and 29.9 per cent in 2014.
LAO invited 3,453 lawyers to participate, and received 900 responses-a 27 per cent response rate-between October 5 and October 23, 2015.
Other survey highlights
- Overall satisfaction was rated positively by 57 per cent of respondents and neutrally by 24 per cent of respondents.
- Areas rated most positively included all staff services, online services, French services and pride in doing legal aid work
- Areas rated least positively included billing and payment as well as training.
The overall margin of error was 2.8 percentage points at the 95 per cent confidence level.
LAO has been conducting lawyer satisfaction surveys annually since 2005. Its goals are to assess lawyers’ satisfaction with LAO services and with their relationship with LAO, and obtain information which will help guide LAO’s efforts to improve lawyer satisfaction.
