Keewaytinok Native Legal Services

Keewaytinok Native Legal Services is a community legal clinic funded by Legal Aid Ontario. We provide services to the communities of Peawanuck, Attawapiskat, Kashechewan, Fort Albany, Moose Factory, MoCreebec, Moosonee and Taykwa Tagamou. Our main office is located in Moosonee, Ontario with a satellite office in Moose Factory.

We are seeking a permanent staff lawyer who will be involved in casework (social assistance, tenancy, disability and work with local organizations and First Nations), as well as public legal education and community development.

This position requires travel by air (including small aircraft and helicopters), boat, snowmobile and vehicles travelling on ice.

Qualifications:

• Lawyer in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
• Knowledge of Cree is a significant asset
• Demonstrated commitment to social justice
• Familiarity with clinic law issues

Salary commensurate with experience. The position begins October 2020.
