CLCYR Housing Caseworkers – Eviction Prevention Team
CLCYR is seeking an experienced licensed paralegal or lawyer for a six-month contract for our Eviction Prevention Team. The proposed start date for this position is November 2023. The salary range for this position is $65,000.00 – $82,000.00, depending on experience. It will likely become a permanent position.
Responsibilities:
- The caseworker will carry a full case load focusing on tenant representation at the Landlord & Tenant Board;
- The caseworker will provide summary advice and brief services to clients;
- The caseworker will be expected to work at our office in Richmond Hill and from home;
- The caseworker will engage in community development activities, deliver Public Legal Education and participate in law reform initiatives as appropriate;
Qualifications Include:
- Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario;
- At least 3 years housing law experience is an asset;
- Experience with the Landlord Tenant Board;
- Experience leading or contributing to a law reform or community development initiative;
- Understanding of anti-racism and social justice and how to apply this understanding in the practice of law;
- Excellent oral and written advocacy skills;
- Legal Clinic experience is an asset;
- Ability to provide legal services to Franco-Ontarians is an asset;
- Ability to speak a second language is an asset;
