The Hamilton Community Legal Clinic is seeking a Bilingual Black Justice Community Development Coordinator for our Together We Rise! S’Élever Ensemble initiative. Through community engagement the coordinator will work to address issues of anti-Black racism and improving access to justice for Hamilton’s diverse Black communities, including the Francophone Black community.

Qualifications include:
- Completed post secondary education in the areas of social justice, law, political science, or social work is preferred. A paralegal diploma is an asset.
- Commitment to social justice from an anti oppression Anti Black racism anti racism and trauma informed framework.
- Knowledge of the intersect ionality of poverty law, combined with the historical and current understanding of how Anti Black racism sustains systemic power inequities that harm Black communities.
- Lived experience of Anti Black racism, and a deep understanding of prevalent issues and tre nds within the Black communit ies in Hamilton.
- Experience in community outreach and development within the Hamilton community.
- Thorough Knowledge of community services legal housing, immigration, income supports and broader social service agencies.
- Proven ability to build relationships with the community and gain trust in a respectful manner and work collaboratively with organizations, networks and community groups.
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and experience.
- Ability to plan and conduct educational workshops and community public legal education events.
- Knowledge of other languages spoken in the community an asset.
- Experience working with an Advisory Committee organizing meetings, minutes and goal setting.
- Must be proficient in all Microsoft 365 products.
- Administrative duties: keeping statistical data and compiling reports.
- Bilingual French a nd English at “advanced level”. Accordingly, a demonstrated capacity to perform all responsibilities in French and English at an “level is required; a professional evaluation will be conducted to determine language level.
- Other languages spoken an asset.
Salary:
Salary range: $67,000 to $71,000 plus benefits and pension plan.
