Office manager

Nipissing Community Legal Clinic

Are you passionate about making a difference in your community? Do you possess excellent organizational skills and a knack for problem-solving? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as an Office Manager at the Nipissing Community Legal Clinic.

Position: Office Manager
Location: North Bay, Ontario
Contract Duration: 6 months leave contract, starting May 1st, with the possibility of extension
Salary Range: $50,000 – $65,000

About us:

The Nipissing Community Legal Clinic is a poverty law clinic serving low income residents of the District of Nipissing. We believe in equal access to justice and strive to empower our clients through advocacy and representation.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee, manage and monitor program budgets, including financial management and forecasting
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements related to financial management – examples: Canada Revenue Agency and Legal Aid Ontario requirements, etc.
  • Meets requirements related to payroll, employee benefits, RRSPs, government taxes, etc.
  • Ensure quarterly and annual reporting requirements to LAO are met and delivered on time
  • Oversee annual financial audits
  • Manage day-to-day office operations and coordinate clinic activities
  • Perform bookkeeping tasks and maintain financial records,
  • Prepare financial and statistical reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Act as the first point of contact for clients and members of the public
  • Work alongside support staff to assist complex clients with patience and empathy
  • Collaborate with the team to meet deadlines and achieve clinic goals
  • Take initiative in problem-solving and finding innovative solutions
  • Communicate effectively with team members, clients, and external partners
  • Demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a cohesive team

Requirements:

  • Minimum of two years of relevant education or experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), as well as case information management systems
  • Familiarity with human resource management and bookkeeping principles
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple deadlines effectively
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent listening skills and capacity to assist clients with complex needs
  • Experience working with volunteer boards or governance structures is preferred
