Staff Lawyer
Jane Finch Community Legal Services is an established community legal clinic funded by Legal Aid Ontario which delivers legal services to a large, low-income community in the northwest of Toronto.
We are seeking a staff lawyer who will provide legal advice and representation in poverty law, particularly Housing Law, Ontario Works, Ontario Disability Support Program, Immigration and Refugee law, Citizenship, Canada Pension Plan, Employment Insurance, Debtor/Creditor law and other areas of administrative law.
Duties will also include public legal education, law reform and community development.
Qualifications
- Member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario.
- Commitment to the delivery of high quality legal services to disadvantaged individuals and groups
- Excellent oral and written advocacy skills;
- Good computer skills
- Experience providing services in a community legal clinic setting is highly desirable
- Bilingual in English and French is an asset
Remuneration
The salary range will be between $70,000 and $82,000 per annum, depending on experience, and includes a health benefits plan and RRSP contributions.
Anticipated starting date: February 19th, 2024.
