COMMUNITY ADVOCACY & LEGAL CENTRE
Are you looking for significant and meaningful work this summer? Our community legal clinic located in Belleville, Ontario, has an opening for a LAW STUDENTS (we are looking for two positions).
Applicants must:
- be currently enrolled in an accredited Law School program
- have a demonstrated commitment to social justice work
Under the supervision of lawyers, the law student may provide:
- Client intake in busy office environment
- Clerical, legal drafting, and legal research support for legal workers
- Support for employment, social assistance and housing law matters including providing legal information, advice and representing at some types of hearings
- Special project help and assistance with our Gender-Based Violence project, Justice & Health Partnerships project, and/or vulnerable workers’ project
Previous legal clinic experience is an asset.
This position may be funded by Service Canada. Applicants must be eligible under Service Canada’s Summer Jobs criteria and:
- be between the ages of 15 and 30 at the start of the employment;
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;
- have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

The successful candidate will be required to work on-site at our Belleville office. This is not a remote or work from home position.
