Administrative Assistant – File Management Support

Parkdale Community Legal Services (PCLS) is a community legal clinic and teaching clinic for Osgoode Hall Law School students. We serve low-income clients in a diverse community in the Toronto Parkdale neighbourhood. We provide legal services in the areas of housing, migrant rights, workers’ rights, and social assistance, in conjunction with community development and organizing work to address systemic issues of social exclusion, displacement and poverty.

The Role:

We are seeking an Administrative Assistant to work on a short-term file management project. The position will concentrate on reviewing, disassembling, scanning and reassembling paper files; cross referencing paper and digital files; and inputting information in databases and spreadsheets. There may be other tasks as assigned.

This position works under the direction of the Office and Litigation Administrator.

This is a full-time, eight-week position starting January 29 and ending March 29, 2024. The position is fully in-office.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and SharePoint
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Experience organizing and digitalizing paper files
• Commitment to social justice and human rights

Assets:

• Experience with case management software (experience with Legal Aid Ontario’s CIMS a strong asset)
• Administrative experience in a law office (experience in a community legal clinic a strong asset)
• Resident of the Parkdale neighbourhood or with significant ties to the community

Compensation:

$11,233 for an eight-week employment contract plus 4% in lieu of benefits. 3.5 paid vacation days and 3 paid sick days.
