Join our team! Hamilton Community Legal Clinic is a busy urban legal clinic seeking a paralegal/community legal worker interested in challenging and meaningful work. The clinic practice is in poverty law and we are looking for experience with social assistance and housing law. This full time permanent position involves casework, summary advice, law reform, community development and public legal education activities. Proficiency in other languages is considered an asset. Qualifications include:
- Experience as a community legal worker with a legal clinic and/or membership in good standing of the LSO as a licenced paralegal
- Commitment to social justice issues and service and working within an Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression, client-centred, trauma-informed framework
- Commitment to the delivery of high quality legal services to disadvantaged individuals and groups
- Demonstrated effective advocacy skills and a keen interest in social assistance law
- Ability to work effectively autonomously and as part of a team
- Passionate about community and client service to disadvantaged individuals and groups
- Experience in community development and public legal education
- Strong ability to handle multiple priorities in a high volume environment and a resourceful self-starter
- Capacity to deliver services in other languages an asset.
Salary Range: $69,000 to $75,000 including group health benefits, a pension and coverage of LSO dues, if applicable.
