Join us for a full-day featuring an engaging lineup of panelists examining the evolving landscape of refugee law and procedure in Canada, with a focus on the impacts of Bill C‑12.
Panels

- Beyond the Board: Strategic options for clients from “moratorium” countries
- Best practices for pre-removal risk assessments (PRRAs), PRRA judicial reviews, and stay motions
- Refugee claims: tips for new and experienced lawyers
- “Crimmigration”: opinion letters for criminal accuseds, and navigating ID and IAD proceedings

LAO encourages refugee roster lawyers to attend in person, if possible, to take advantage of this opportunity to network with your colleagues. In person networking opportunities will include a lunchtime session aimed at junior members of the roster and a cash bar reception from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Legal aid clinic staff, articling and law students, and refugee advocates working in Canadian refugee protection law anywhere in the country are welcome to register. In-person spots are prioritized for roster lawyers.
Registration fees can be found by following the registration link. Please note that the conference will be in English.
Accreditation
The conference will feature 5 hours and 15 minutes of substantive content and 1 hour and 15 minutes of professionalism content.
