2025 lawyer annual self-report period starts Jan. 2

Published: January 2, 2026

The annual self-report for 2025 opened on Jan. 2, 2026.

As in previous years, the 2025 Legal Aid Ontario (LAO) lawyer self-report is available through Legal Aid Online. All roster members who have been a member of the LAO roster for the entirety of the 2025 calendar year (from Jan. 1, 2025 to Dec. 31, 2025 inclusive) are required to complete and submit an LAO Lawyer self-report. The self-report will automatically appear for roster members who are required to submit it.

Please complete and submit your 2025 LAO lawyer self-report by March 31, 2026 to maintain your membership on the LAO roster.

New for 2025

In line with LAO’s strategic plan, LAO has made several changes to the 2025 LAO lawyer self-report, including:

  • A new, optional section collecting equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging information
  • Questions about interest in mentorship to support an LAO mentor referral list
  • Questions about the use of artificial intelligence tools
  • New training requirements and confirmation of completion for domestic violence (for family certificate, domestic violence duty counsel and family duty counsel roster members)
  • New training requirements and confirmation of completion for Consent and Capacity Board matters
  • Additional questions around practice arrangements
  • General usability enhancements, including clearer language and improved layout based on feedback received from roster members

These enhancements will provide LAO with deeper insights into roster composition, enabling more informed service planning and supporting ongoing improvements to the services offered to roster members.

Each year, we receive valuable feedback from Roster Members about the Self-Report and endeavour to make changes based on that feedback where possible. We encourage you to reach out to roster@lao.on.ca if you have suggestions for improvements to the self-report.
