I didn’t receive document(s) I expected from Legal Aid Ontario (LAO). What should I do?

If you or your lawyer do not receive documents from LAO within the timeframe below, you must let us know right away. Otherwise, we will consider the documents to have been delivered.

A document sent from LAO by:

  • Registered or regular mail is considered delivered seven days after it is mailed.
  • Email or fax is considered delivered on the following day.
  • Uploads to the client or lawyers’ portal are considered delivered the following day. Account holders (clients or lawyers) will be notified that an upload is available.

If your contact information or your lawyer’s changes, call us right away at 1‑800‑668‑8258 Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. so we can update our records.
