Minimum experience standards for roster members closed

LASA 2020 consultation: Proposed Policy or Rule.

Overview

Legal Aid Ontario (LAO) is consulting about the proposed minimum experience standards that prospective roster (formerly panel) members must meet to join our roster and be eligible to provide legal aid certificate services and duty counsel services in specific areas of law.

Consultation materials

We encourage you to review the consultation materials prior to attending a Zoom session or providing a written submission. Materials include:

  • Consultation outline
Overview of our proposed minimum experience standards for roster members.
  • Draft minimum experience standards
Outline of our minimum experience standards for roster members.
  • Reading lists

Purpose of consultation

We are looking for feedback from our justice partners to help us establish minimum experience standards under the Legal Aid Services Act, 2020. While the consultations are focused on minimum experience standards, we will continue to ensure that our clients receive high-quality legal representation that reflects the unique qualities of each area of law.

It is important that our work is informed by meaningful consultation and dialogue. We hope to consult with as many people as possible and gain the benefit of a broad range of perspectives.
