West Toronto Community Legal Services (WTCLS) has an immediate opening for a staff lawyer with experience in the area of social assistance law, including ODSP, OW, CPP, EI, and OAS. There may be an opportunity to develop other areas of practice.

WTCLS is a busy urban clinic which includes lawyers, paralegals, social workers, housing help workers, and a rent bank location. The environment is very collaborative and team oriented with a view to building a healthy workplace that delivers the most effective supports for our community. As we are a community-based clinic, our staff work on location, but there may be room for occasional limited remote work.

We are particularly looking for a candidate who is open to new practice models including the use of new technology as well as supervising students.

Responsibilities:

• Management of the clinic’s social assistance practice
• Maintenance of an active caseload
• Supervision of students and CLWs
• Participation in inter-clinic working groups on income security and associated projects
• Delivery of public legal education
• Active participation in all areas of clinic function

Key Qualifications:

• Membership in good standing with the LSO
• 1-5 years’ experience in clinic practice.

Remuneration:

• Annual salary range of $85,000 – $89,500 per year based on year of call
• Pension plan and group benefits enrolment
