LAO Consultation Registry
Legal Aid Ontario (LAO) continues its commitment to engage in public consultations to better understand the needs of our clients and enhance service delivery.
LAO consults about different topics, in a variety of ways. A small percentage of LAO’s overall consultation and engagement activities are about proposed Policy or Rule changes. Those consultations will be clearly identified as such because they must meet specific requirements set out in the Legal Aid Ontario Public Consultation Policy, written in keeping with s. 33 of the Legal Aid Services Act, 2020.
Notices of consultations about proposed Policy or Rule changes, as well as other types of LAO consultations, will be posted at legalaid.on.ca. Individuals and organizations can now also subscribe to the LAO Consultation Registry to receive email alerts about upcoming consultations.
LAO values inclusiveness and encourages anyone interested in providing feedback to sign-up for alerts so that you don’t miss any consultation opportunities. Individuals or groups are welcome to register and can opt-in to have their names listed as part of the consultation registry available at legalaid.on.ca. There is no fee or obligation and you can easily unsubscribe at any time.

About our consultation policy
The Legal Aid Ontario Public Consultation Policy governs whether and how LAO seeks the public’s views about changes to its Rules or Policies governing service delivery and service providers.
The length and form of consultations will vary. Details, including a description of the changes(s) being considered, and why, will be made available at legalaid.on.ca.
Once a consultation ends, LAO will review and consider the feedback provided before making a decision.
