Legal Aid Ontario welcomes increased financial eligibility

Legal Aid Ontario (LAO) welcomes the government’s move to significantly increase the financial eligibility threshold for legal aid services. This major new investment will allow an additional one million low-income Ontarians to qualify for legal aid services. This is important news for the many vulnerable low-income people who may require legal aid assistance to deal with a serious legal matter.
Quote from John McCamus, Chair of the Board, Legal Aid Ontario
“Thanks to higher financial eligibility thresholds for legal aid, more low-income people will have access to justice. This new investment will make the courts work more efficiently by reducing the number of self-represented litigants in the judicial system - this is good news for all Ontarians.”
