A new easy-to-fill-in application form for Big Case Management appeals

Wednesday, March 5, 2014

You can now apply for a Big Case Management (BCM) appeal or homicide prerogative remedy by filling in a standardized BCM appeal opinion letter template. This new application form replaces the opinion letter you used to have to write, then fax or mail to your area director.

It captures all the up-front information required by legal aid staff and area committees to efficiently assess the merits of an appeal. It helps them make better, more informed decisions.

It will enable you to secure your budget, if appropriate, as quickly as possible, so you can move forward with an appeal.

A step-by-step guide

Once you have completed the form, please save it for your own records, then go into Legal Aid Online and submit it, along with the relevant materials. It will go to your area director for a decision.

These screen shots show where to go to complete and send the form:

Step 1: Select “submit documents electronically to LSP.”
