Legal aid advisory groups
Last updated: December 21, 2009
Announced October 8, 2009, five advisory groups worked to improve the legal aid system and give advice to the Attorney General.
A MAG initiative, each group looked at how the recent $150 million investment by the government can best support the most vulnerable Ontarians and help drive significant reforms in our courts.
John McCamus, Board Chair of Legal Aid Ontario, chaired each of the five working groups, and Justice Sidney Linden assisted each group. The groups included representatives from Legal Aid Ontario, Ontario Bar Association, Criminal Lawyer’s Association, Law Society of Upper Canada, Family Lawyers Association, Refugee Lawyers Association, the County and District Law Presidents’ Association, the Advocates’ Society, the Ontario Association of Family Mediators, the Association of Community Legal Clinics of Ontario and the Nishnawbe-Aski Legal Services Corporation.
