Legal Aid Ontario is developing a Mental Health Strategy to strengthen the capacity of lawyers, front-line workers, and management to better serve clients with mental illness. It is a multi-faceted, multi-year strategy that will improve access, increase capacity, and build on LAO's current client services.

Ryan Fritsch

Ryan is leading development of LAO's Mental Health Strategy.

Ryan previously served as legal counsel to the Psychiatric Patient Advocate Office, which provides rights advice and advocacy services to over 30,000 psychiatric in-patients across Ontario each year.

Ryan articled in Vancouver with the Pivot Legal Society and EcoJustice Canada. He is a sessional lecturer at the University of Windsor's Faculty of Law. He has also served as co-chair of the Police Record Check Coalition and the Toronto Policy Services Board's Mental Health Working Group.
