Legal Aid Ontario (LAO) is releasing Portrait of the Legal Needs of Francophone Women in Ontario, a study it commissioned and supported, to examine how LAO can improve its services for French-speaking women in Ontario.
“We look forward to reviewing the findings of this study to help us build on the many improvements now underway at LAO and better understand the needs of Francophone women of Ontario,” says Bob Ward, CEO of Legal Aid Ontario.
Portrait of the Legal Needs of Francophone Women in Ontario is based on an extensive review of studies published between 1985 and 2010, an environmental scan of French language services in Ontario’s justice sector, a survey and extensive consultations with the Francophone community.
It includes information on:
- the legal needs of Francophone women, especially their needs in poverty law
- innovative service delivery models that will best serve Francophone women
- achievable solutions to improving Francophone women’s access to justice
