New questions on criminal amendment form to help clarify lawyer requests
Posted on: Tuesday, July 23, 2013
Legal Aid Ontario (LAO) has added several more questions for lawyers to answer in the “Request to add additional charges” form on Legal Aid Online. The answers to the questions will narrow down exactly why lawyers are requesting an amendment and minimize delays caused by the need for LAO to follow up after a form is submitted with a request for more information.
In addition to permitting more lawyers to move forward with qualifying criminal cases without the need for a follow-up phone call with LAO staff, the new form will also help provide LAO staff with more time to focus on delivering client-centred services.
