Downsview Community Legal Services moves to Bathurst-Finch Community Hub

By moving to the hub, the legal clinic now has the opportunity to assist clients in partnership with the other community agencies housed in the same building.
The legal clinic’s new space is located on the main floor of the community hub, which offers both community and medical services all under the same roof. The hub is next to Northview Heights Secondary School on Toronto District School Board property.
It offers community services such as counselling, employment services, seniors’ activities and youth groups on the main floor. On the second floor, there is a health clinic with a family doctor, counsellor, dietician, chiropodist and health promotion staff.
Community legal clinics are independent, non-profit organizations funded by Legal Aid Ontario. They provide representation, summary legal advice, public legal education, law reform and community development services to low-income individuals and groups within a defined geographical area.
Downsview Community Legal Clinic Services legal provides legal advice and assistance in:
- landlord and tenant issues – eviction prevention
- social assistance (Ontario Works and Ontario Disability Support Program)
- Employment Insurance
- Canada Pension Plan/Old Age Security
- employment standards
