LAO issues quarterly report for January to March 2012

Legal Aid Ontario’s (LAO’s) Quarter Four (Q4) report, covering the organization’s activities between January and March 2012, is now available. The report also sums up some of LAO’s activities for 2011/12.
Among its highlights:
- LAO’s total expenditures for all major programs came to $373 million YTD March 2012, compared with $362 million FY 2010/11.
- As of March 31, 2012, LAO estimated that its forecasted operating deficit for 2011/12 would be approximately $1.3 million, compared to its original forecast of around $4.0M.
- In April 2013, LAO will report back to the Auditor General on the status of each of the recommendations contained in the 2011 Value for Money audit report.
This is the second quarterly performance overview LAO has issued to increase transparency and provide timely data about the organization to stakeholders. These reports will be produced regularly and will include updates on LAO’s financial position, client services, legal aid certificates and lawyer payments.
