Almost 90 per cent of courthouse applications now receiving same-day decisions

Of the 1,904 applications for legal aid taken at Legal Aid Ontario (LAO) courthouse offices in February 2011, 89 per cent received a same-day decision on their application.
Legal Aid Ontario’s 55 courthouse-based offices assist eligible, low-income Ontarians with their legal matter on the day of their court hearing.
Across all LAO access points, including the toll-free call centre, district offices and provincial and federal jails, 79 per cent of the 9,680 applications taken in February 2011 received a same-day decision. This is an increase of 4 per cent over the previous month.
