Legal Aid Ontario tariff rate increase

Legal Aid Ontario (LAO) is increasing the hourly rate paid to lawyers who represent legal aid clients. Starting April 1, 2011, the hourly rate (or tariff) will rise by about 5 per cent above the current rate.
These changes to the tariff rate are in accordance with the January 2010 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which was signed by LAO, the Criminal Lawyers’ Association and the Ministry of Attorney General.
