Q. How do I view certificate amendments and authorizations online?
Q. How do I opt in to receive email updates?
You must make sure that you have a portal ID for Legal Aid Online, a valid email address updated in your contact information, and you must indicate your preference of communication.

Q. Why is it important to maintain my contact information on Legal Aid Online?
You are responsible for updating and maintaining your contact information on the portal. By providing your current contact information, it will help make sure you receive LAO communications in a timely manner.
Q. When can I submit accounts for the amendments/authorizations requests that have been approved?
24 hours after the request is granted, accounts can be submitted for payment.
Q. When will I receive email notification for amendment or authorization requests?
As soon as the area office makes the decision and enters it into the portal, an email will immediately be sent to notify you of the change.
Q. Will I still see the certificate amendments if I opt not to receive email notification?
Yes. You can still see the certificate amendments and authorizations when you see a red checkmark next to a certificate number but you will not be notified by email.
Q. Will I still receive paper communications and updates on amendments and authorizations?
No. When you log into Legal Aid Online, you can view and print the information directly from the portal.
Q. What new information will be available about my client’s certificate through the portal?
You will be able to view approvals and denials for requests, certificate status and the most significant certificate related information and dates. All information will be viewed as read only.
Q. How will I know that a certificate has been updated?
When you view your client’s certificate online, a red checkmark will be displayed beside the certificate number to indicate that there has been a change to the certificate.

This initiative is part of LAO’s ongoing efforts to modernize the way we do business through technology by streamlining the business processes, finding cost savings and improving services to lawyers and clients.
