Internet Explorer v5.5 or later


Attention - Before logging into Legal Aid Online:
Before accessing the Legal Aid Online website for account submission please delete cookies, files, and history in Internet Explorer Browser. Call the Lawyers Service Centre if you need any further assistance.

  • 1. Install Juniper Installer Service

  • 2. Delete browser cookies, temporary files and history

    1. Open Internet Explorer Browser.
    2. Select Tools options listed at the top
    3. From within Tools option select Internet Options
    4. Make sure General tab is selected
    5. Click on Delete Cookies button
    6. Click Ok button.
    7. Click on Delete Files button
    8. In Delete Files Dialog Box ensure Delete all offline content is checked.
    9. Click on Ok button.
    10. Click on Clear History button.
    11. Click on Yes button
    12. Click on Ok button

    1. Open Internet Explorer Browser.

    1. Open Internet Explorer Browser
    2. Select Tools options listed at the top
    3. From within Tools option select Internet Options
    4. Select Security tab.
    5. Click on Trusted sites icon.
    6. Click on Sites button
    7. In text field beside Add button type following: https://www.legalaidonline.on.ca
    8. Click on Add button
    9. After completion of step 8 should see https://www.legalaidonline.on.ca listed in Websites box.
    10. Click on Close button
    11. Select General Tab
    12. Click Delete button and Delete Cookies, Files, History.
    13. Close Internet Explorer Browser
    14. Open a new Internet Explorer Browser window and try accessing site again by typing https://www.legalaidonline.on.ca.

Browser Security

Security starts with your Web browser. You can protect yourself online by using an up-to-date browser with the most recent security features.

To set your browser:

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. From the menu bar at the top of the screen click on Tools and select Internet Options.
  3. Select the Advanced tab.
  4. Select the Security tab, then scroll to the bottom and verify that Use SSL 2.0 and Use SSL 3.0 is checked.
  5. Click OK.

Cookies Enabled

A cookie is a small file created by a Web server on your computer that can be referenced when the website is visited or when a page on the site is visited. Cookies cannot access files or other information stored on your computer. Cookies have to be enabled to use Legal Aid Online.

To enable cookies in Internet Explorer 5.5:

  1. While you are in Internet Explorer, on the menu bar, click on Tools and select Internet Options.
  2. Select the General tab. From the Temporary Internet files section, click the Settings button.
  3. In the Settings dialog box, ensure that the Automatically option is selected and the Amount of disk space to use is set to 10 MB.
  4. Click OK.
  5. From the Security tab, click the Custom Level button.
  6. Scroll down the page until you see Cookies; ensure the Enable button is selected.
  7. Click OK to return to the Internet Options Dialog box and click OK again to return to Internet Explorer browser page.

To enable cookies in Internet Explorer 6.0:

  1. While you are in Internet Explorer, on the menu bar, click Tools and select Internet Options.
  2. Select the Privacy tab and then select the Advanced button.
  3. Make sure that Override automatic cookie handling is selected.
  4. Click OK in the Advanced Privacy Settings box then click OK in the Internet Options box.

Cache Clearing

During any Internet session, web pages that you visit are stored on your hard drive as cached files. It is recommended that you delete these files from your hard drive after completing your Legal Aid Online session by clearing your cache so that your computer doesn't retain confidential client information. You can clear your cache either automatically or manually.

Automatic cache clearing:
When you sign in to www.legalaidonline.on.ca for the first time you may be asked to install an application from Legal Aid Online that will automatically clear your browser cache at the end of your Legal Aid Online session. To install the application, simply select Yes and follow the prompts to allow Legal Aid Online to automatically clear your cache.

If you choose not to install the automated cache clearing, Legal Aid Ontario recommends you manually clear your cache at the end of every session.

Manual cache clearing:

  1. While you are in Internet Explorer, from the menu bar click on Tools and select Internet Options.
  2. Select the General tab. From the Temporary Internet files section, click the Delete Files button.
  3. When the prompt screen appears, click OK.

Javascript Enabled

Javascript is used to make our website easier to use. It is a technology that makes web pages interactive. Javascript must be enabled to use Legal Aid Online.

To enable Javascript:

  1. While you are still in Internet Explorer, from the menu bar, click on Tools and select Internet Options.
  2. From the Security tab, click the Custom Level button.
  3. Scroll down the page and ensure the Enable button is selected next to the following:
    - Active scripting.
    - Allow paste operations via script
    - Scripting of java applets
  4. Click OK to return to the Internet Options Dialog box and click OK again to return to Internet Explorer.

You are now ready to sign in to Legal Aid Online!
