An exciting opportunity exists to showcase your leadership skills with Environmental and Land Tribunals Ontario (ELTO), a cluster of five tribunals for which the Ministry of the Attorney General is responsible. In a complex environment of agency reform that will modernize the way in which numerous boards and tribunals deliver their services to the public, the Executive Assistant will provide strategic analysis, advice and support to the Executive Chair.

In this position you will demonstrate a high level of professionalism and integrity in providing senior executive administrative support to meet the mandate of the Executive Chair’s office and the ELTO. Working with the Executive Chair’s office and other senior executive contacts within ELTO, and liaising as required with the Minister’s Office, Ministry officials, adjudicators, stakeholders and the public, you will provide leadership and support to the Executive Chair on the strategic oversight of the complex change agenda, and other key projects within the administrative justice system.

As the Executive Assistant, you will prepare a wide variety of high level reports and analysis, memoranda, briefing notes to advise the Executive Chair on strategic issues, manage and coordinate contentious/critical issues, and manage corporate connections and protocols. You will directly manage assigned internal/special projects relating to the ELTO.


Qualifications:

  1. Well developed strategic analysis, analytical and problem solving skills, and demonstrated creativity, to identify and resolve emerging issues and their policy implications.
  2. Strong executive administration and project management skills to lead large scale change initiatives.
  3. Superior communication, consultation and issues management skills with demonstrated experience in managing complex contentious issues and stakeholder/client relations.
  4. Tact, diplomacy and political acuity to manage issues with stakeholders, government, OICs and the public.
  5. Understanding of the justice/legal system and of administrative justice and the work of tribunals in particular, and knowledge of, and sensitivity to the tribunal environment including concepts such as access to justice and adjudicative independence.
