Legal counsel – indigenous designation
Human Rights Legal Support Centre (HRLSC)
The HRLSC provides free legal assistance to individuals throughout Ontario who have experienced discrimination contrary to Ontario's Human Rights Code. The Centre is seeking applications for a designated Indigenous Services Legal Counsel position to provide legal services and representation to HRLSC clients at mediations and hearings before the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario (HRTO). Qualifications include self-identification as Indigenous, human rights expertise, and knowledge and familiarity with legal issues, including discrimination, facing Indigenous people in Ontario. The successful applicant will be part of a designated team providing legal services and representation to Indigenous and non‑Indigenous people who contact the Centre for legal assistance.
This is a full-time, six-month contract position with the possibility of extension, located in Toronto. Salary for this position is $72,000+.
